USB pen drives, Thumb Drives, Flash drives are now available in USB 2 and USB 3 Versions. USB Hubs are also in two versions. Use USB 3 Hub for the newer USB 3 Flash Drives. Make sure you Plug the Hub into a Blue USB 3 post of your Computer. Use USB Tree View Freeware to crosscheck your connections.
The USB Device Tree Viewer, short UsbTreeView is based upon the Microsoft "USBView" sample application found in the Windows Driver Development Kits and now standalone at GitHub.
My Transition to USB 3 is complete. The USB 2 drives are now being used for storage, archive and recovery disks. I keep all my Data in external Pen Drives and USB 3 SATA SSD Drives. Portable Apps work best in USB 3.
No more CD and DVD archiving. Not sure how long the Flash Drives will last in the Shelf, maybe i have to refresh them once a Year.
I have lost Data in 1.2 and 1.44 FDD Floppy Drives due to Moisture and Mould. I have Lost CD/DVD Drives due to dust, grime and sunshine. Even many Mechanical HDD failures. In Flash i did not lose drives but i lost data due to unknown reasons.
Trying exFAT format for the first time in place of NTFS. It is always good to keep one extra copy of all data.
